Poker In Vegas

A lot of people every year go to Vegas with the intention of solely hitting up the poker tables. Live poker can be seriously profitable but if you don’t go out with the right approach then poker in Vegas can be seriously costly and put a big dent in your bankroll. It doesn't matter what games you plan to play be it no limit Holdem, Omaha or even lowball poker there's money to be made and much fishier games on offer. Check out our poker in Vegas guide which should help you make the best of the games on offer.

Find the Fish

Your first step will be to find the fishy players. You can normally scout this out right away by checking who the waitresses are frequenting the most. The difference in playing live poker compared to playing poker online is that you are actually in a casino. Players might drink at home while they play, but it is much more common in live casinos in Vegas.

Once you find the drunken fish you need to keep an eye on them. Observe the plays that they make and make a plan on how you are going to take advantage of them. If you notice the player is calling every bet to the river then you should be planning to play strong hands against them and value bet as much as possible. Drunken casino players tend to think they are getting bullied and want to see if that is the case. You should be able to value bet bigger than normal against these types of players.

Don’t Drink

You should not drink while playing poker. This is a cardinal sin. You want to have a clear head while you are playing poker so that you can think as logically as possible. There are a lot of mathematical problems to be solved and big decisions to be made especially if you‘re playing deep stacked, so being drunk really isn’t the best preparation.

Something that you can do to help get action against some of the tighter players is ordering a drink so it seems like you are drinking. If other good players view you as a lush who is simply playing to have a good time you might be able to get these players to stack off light to you. When you do this make sure that you set a table image of being a fish. Limp into the pot a few times and play passively a few times. After you get this image and you see that there are players trying to take advantage of “how drunk you are” you should then tighten up and start looking for good spots to get your money into the pot.

Tilt

When you start to tilt at tables in Vegas you need to leave the table. There is far too much money to be made for you to tilt off a large amount of cash in just a short session. Once you lose a few buy ins you will have a hard time making up for it and turning your trip into a winning one. It takes a lot longer to get even in a live game than it does online! When you tilt get up and walk around the casino for a minute. You can go check out some of the other tables, see if there are any monster fish at another table and just generally clear your head and cool off.

Be sure when you start to tilt that you are off of the table immediately. The table will still be there when you get back and just because you take a shot break doesn‘t mean you have to leave your seat either!
