Who Is Phil Hellmuth

In today's world of poker, there are some names that remain etched in our minds and are truly unforgettable. One such name that redefined the principles of the game is Phil Hellmuth.

Controversially known as poker brat due to the tantrums he's been known to throw when he's been unlucky and lost, there are unconfirmed rumours that he has made and exceeded well over $150,000,000 by playing this game with skill and nothing short of talent. While there is no written record anywhere of his true financial accomplishments, his name demands the attention of any poker fan who hears of this legend otherwise known as the tiger of the poker jungle.

It was back in 1989 when Phil first made his mark. With a little knowledge and desire to emerge victorious, Hellmuth raced to glory in the World Series Of Poker Championship and claimed first position amongst seven hundred odd participants in the main event bagging $755,000 in prize money and becoming the youngest ever main event champion at the age of 24. Later on at the Omaha 8/Better tournament Phil grabbed sixth position and made it to two further final two tables to record a great tournament. During his career he has won a record 11 World Series Of Poker titles and is the tournaments undoubted king. His last World Series Of Poker Win came in 2007 when he won the $1,500 entry no limit holdem tournament, winning just over $637,000. All of his wins have come in texas holdem tournaments.

His accomplishments have taken him all over the world. While attending a press interview in the Zanzibar Islands, one reporter managed to put pieces of the puzzle together and was able to identify Phil at the local bar. During an arranged interview, Phil spoke of many achievements that would make any man on this planet envious. However, at the end of the interview, he said quote "With a little determination, anyone can make it happen". After the interview Hellmuth walked out of the plush five star beach resort and got in his rented land cruiser to the airport saying he was off to Australia.

To date, Phil has written several books on Poker, including the famous "play poker like the pros". All of his books have gained international stardom and have seen many amateur players buying them to understand the mindset of one of pokers greatest ever players. Additionally, he has also released several instructional DVD's which help players understand his expert insight towards becoming better players. He has also been paid to be an exclusive writer for numerous poker magazines and editorials. His name pops up on all of the top search engines and he has his own podcast known as The Poker Edge which is broadcasted via ESPN.

Phil Hellmuth was born in Madison, WI and to date manages to impress everyone when it comes to poker. He currently resides in Bay Area, CA with his wife and two sons.
